This used to be a fun vacation. I loved traveling into the city with my family on a weekend we decided to leave our outpost in Philadelphia. It was always a grand time. Between the ambiance, the amazing food, and the various cultra, this used to be a fun vacation.
Now it's a necessity.
I'm not one for great sentimentality to people I don't personally know. Opening the door to empathy for all the things I care about but don't personally associate with would release a floodgate I'm not comfortable with releasing. I prefer to mourn in a controlled way when public tragedy strikes.
This is one of the exceptions.
